The Journey

Two years ago, the idea began to form…what if we grouped (the majority) of our mid-week programing on one night, served dinner beforehand and had something for every member of the family…would it work?  Would people come?  Would enough people be willing to serve?  Would our new facility be able to function at full capacity?  After much prayer, planning and deliberation, Grace launched “The Journey” last fall.  And where has our “Journey” taken us…?

From the ground up, Frank Tubbs volunteered and led a kitchen team that put together a menu and proceeeded to feed, week in and week out, 100′s of people from Grace and the community.  Kristy McKenney from a team of volunteer baristas who faithfully came every Wednesday night, arriving before everyone else and staying after everyone left, to serve up caffiene and community.  Robin Tubbs stepped forward to lead and coordinate the Journey night, overseeing publicity, media, security, welcoming and greeting and filling in all the unforseen needs that would arise throughout the year.  Sandy Snavely volunteered to lead the adult programming, recruiting facilitators, researching and developing curriculum, and investing countless hours on the phone tying everything together.  Rhonda Patrick built a brand new team of Kidmo volunteers, to test and try a dynamic children’s program we’d never experienced before.  Matt Patrick, our student ministry pastor, shifted his middle ministry to Wednesday night,
