Oregon Food Bank – Volunteers Needed

Last year the Oregon Food Bank (OFB) distributed nearly 60 million pounds of food to hungry residents around Oregon. In the OFB alone (outside of its network partners) volunteers donated 74,500 hours of time which, had the OFB needed to hire workers for this effort it would have cost nearly $1.2 million dollars.
Please, sign up to help process food for the local OFB Volunteer Action Center. There is a sign up sheet at the information table in the foyer. We will be taking 15 youth volunteers on Thursday, July 16th and have open spots for up to 25 volunteers on Saturday, July 18th from 1pm to 3pm. The work is not difficult and does not require any heavy lifting. We usually are processing either bulk or donated foods into boxes for distribution to local pantries.
The address of the Volunteer Action Center is 7900 NE 33rd Drive, Portland. [directions]
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has not works, is dead.
James 2:14-17 NRSV
