Dennis Friesen

Dennis is a “converted Canadian,” who has has lived in this great state most of his adult life. Thirty seven years ago was significant in shaping his life’s journey. He married Sally, a native Oregonian and the love of his life. That year Dennis also began his studies at Western Seminary and started serving on the pastoral staff at a church in Portland. They have two adult children, one single, one married, and their first special little grandchild, Katie.

Twenty seven years ago, he helped “birth” what became Grace Community Church. He has pastored this faith family through its many seasons, in different locations and in a variety of roles. A few years ago he and other leaders began praying and planning to more strategically equip the church for their next chapter, with younger leaders, including its current lead pastor, Jay.

As part of this process, Dennis recently began a three year reduction of his role and hours. Among other areas, as Community Connections Pastor, he leads a team of people who relate to those who are newer to Grace, as well as others who want to learn how they can partner more fully with it’s mission and vision.
