Backpack Blessings

Did you know that many children in our community go hungry on the weekends? These kids rely on school breakfast and lunch programs to feed them. Hunger is a very real issue in the lives of many families. East Gresham Elementary School and Grace Community Church are partnering together to provide food to high risk children on the weekends. East Gresham is one of the highest need schools in our community. Because of the high need they offer school wide free breakfast and 77% of students receive free lunch while another 7% qualify for reduced lunch. That means 84% of students are at risk of not having enough food on the weekend. We can work together to ensure kids do not go hungry.

We are currently launching a program called “Backpack Blessings.” It is our goal to provide backpacks full of nutritious, kid friendly, easy to prepare foods for children to take home for the weekends.

We need YOUR help!  You can donate any of the food items on the Approved Food List, or you can provide cash so that we can purchase other needed items.
