GENEROSITY: HELP FOR HATI
The news has been filled, rightfully so, with massive coverage about the tragedy in Hati.
A recent story about the Portland man (Kasey Wilson) has captured the headlines…he has given half his life savings ($20k) to the relief efforts in Hati. That is outrageous generosity. I don’t know if he’s a Jesus Follower or not (they showed footage of him reading a story from the Bible, mentioned his previous mission trips, but who knows) but that’s giving that reflects the heart of God. Not the amount, but the sacrifice and heart behind the gift.
As you may or may not know, our Grace Women’s Ministry (Just4 Women) has been planning on hosting a used book sale on January 31st. People have been dropping off used books to be displayed next Sunday…then anyone can come, name the price for the book(s) they want and the proceeds were going to go to Just4Women.
Well, after seeing the crisis in Hati, the Women’s Leadership Team have decided to give all proceeds to Medical Teams International…to help in Hati.
I’m proud of our ladies for looking at what they have, seeing what they can do, and then choosing to give to others. Could our women’s ministry use more resources…yes, especially right now. But they’ve seen a greater need and are giving to another. Generosity is contagious…and I hope some of it is rubbing off on you.
